Replace Outdated Controls with a New Burner Panel

The Client is a supplier of High-Pressure Aluminum Die Castings. The primary furnace to feed the operations had outdated controls and interface. ONYX was called on to improve design and build a modern panel while not interfering with the burner controls.

The Problem

Older controls or equipment did not provide functionality and were over 40 years old. Other issues were how to modernize but keep the burner control programing the same not to affect the TSSA certifications.


The Solution

ONYX Engineering enabled greater functionality with the HMI, new capability with new controls equipment but maintaining the burner protocol with new Honeywell burner controls.


The Results

The Control System upgrade increased the usability, efficiency and safety of the existing equipment. Giving operators more visualization, efficiency, and capability, while reducing downtime, and increased productivity.
